What you should know about The Law & Law Enforcement
Attention Autism & IDD Community !
It is important to learn about the Law and Law enforcement, to be safe. Understanding your personal rights and the rules or laws that protect those rights and your choices can help you to be independent and self-advocate or stand up for yourself. If you don’t know or understand what an officer, lawyer or judge is saying, it is difficult to know what to do and if you need help deciding that. So, we have created a Vocabulary video about the Law and the words used by Law enforcement and lawyers. You can watch it as many times as you want or for as little time as you want and then use the worksheets to practice their meanings. Remember, this is ultimately going to help you if you ever have an interaction with Law Enforcement.
